Devil Made Him Do It

Since our June 10 posting on the natural causes death of “Night Stalker” killer and rapist Richard Ramirez, several readers have asked how we can say what we have about there being no such thing as satanic murder.

In our recent book, Law & Disorder, we obliterated the prosecutions’ claims of satanic ritual as motives in the murders of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1993, and English student Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy, in 2007. Yet Mr. Ramirez stated that he was a satanist and claimed that all of his crimes were motivated by the devil. So what gives?

The answer is in the evidence.

Suspects and defendants claim all sorts of things, but the forensic and behavioral evidence at each of Ramirez’s crime scenes indicates the kinds of predatory lust murders and sexual assaults with which we are all too familiar. In other words, even though he drew a pentagram on the leg of one victim, there is nothing about these crimes to suggest he committed them in service of some higher power whom he worshipped.

This is the kind of guy who would get off on being called the Night Stalker and who  would want further to burnish his image with the satanic connection. But rest assured, he did what he did not because the devil made him do it, but because raping and killing women gave him more satisfaction and sense of his own power than any other activity in life. It was easy for him to explain himself after arrest with the rationale that the devil made him do it.

Our friend and colleague, former FBI Special Agent Ken Lanning, was the Bureau’s expert on crimes against children and also conducted the most complete study in the history of law enforcement on the so-called cult and satanic murder phenomenon. And what he found was that no matter how many members of the public, the media and police departments believed there was a rash of satanic ritual murder, Ken and his fellow investigators could find none when they actually got down to their examination. Every single one of them had a more objective and rational explanation.

Even the few cases where pentagrams or other satanic symbols were present turned  out not to pass muster. Ken likened it to the numerous cases we’ve seen in which Holy Bibles were left at murder scenes. This was no more indication that the crime was committed in the name of God for ritualistic Christian reasons than that another murder was committed in the name of Satan.

Richard Ramirez was certainly an evil person. But his evil was personal, and he didn’t need the Devil to help him fulfill his murderous agenda.

And that goes for all the other monsters out there.

There is no one with more control over our lives than ourselves. If one believes God is all-powerful, then how can they possibly believe an evil entity could control one of God’s creatures? If one doesn’t believe God is all-powerful, then what is all the worshipping about? Maybe it’s more that if we invest in good, we become a part of good; and if we invest in evil, we become a part of evil. It’s our choice, and what is good or evil for one person may not be for the next, depending on circumstances. It seems to me that a big percentage of crimes are commited by people who don’t take responsibility for their own actions and use whatever their beliefs are as an excuse to do what they want to do.

You think the fallen angels are not also God’s creation? Do you think that man is smarter than an angel? Do you not believe in God or the Devil? My guess is you are an atheist, is that true?

      • Cornerstone says:

If fallen angels are God’s creation, then God is not benevolent, so why would you worship an unbenevolent God?

I am not an athiest, but neither am I a Christian. I am spiritual. I believe in spirits of different kinds but don’t believe they are all-powerful.

Cornerstone God is a positive property that is the very definition of God, you can not say since evil exists God is not all loving. The angels had a test and we don’t know for sure what it was but the beautiful guess is this. God revealed to the angels that man would sin to an abusive nature, and that God would redeem man in the person of Christ. And when the angels heard that they rebelled. They said, “God should not descend to the lowly nature of man, if he should humiliate himself he should become an angel.” So some of them were lost, and when an angel is lost it can’t change it’s mind, an angel is very smart. Much smarter than man, an angel sees the consequences of each and every action with the same clarity we see the part can never be greater than the whole. Like murder, it is irreproachable you can never take it back, once these types are lost they are lost for good. Bundy, Ramirez, Kemper, Ridgeway, Rader they are like these fallen angels. They simply are man, not divine like angels but look at Son-of-Sam now Son-of-Hope, that is the beauty of God, but it is a weak argument to say evil exists so God does not.

The true atheist says God is dead, and we have slain him. For example the rape and murder of children is a devestating sin to God and it will in the end be all our loss, when he has had enough of our evil than we all will be destroyed. The only prayer I have is he does not take away eternity, and let the kids live. If we all failed then let the children rebuild the world this time, but Mary has appeared and told us God is angry by this world. You wait and see that being does exist and he will judge us all, the angels are lost but they have domain over this earth, look in Gen: God made the world then it was a mess, God did not make the world a mess? I figure it is due to the fallen angels. They failed God so now they lead us to fail him also. Just like so many have.

Did the Devil Make him do it? Yes and No. People tend to follow and act according to what they believe. There is good and evil in the world. There is a God and there is a Devil. Which you follow and / or surrender your will to and the degree of your committment to the one or the other is your choice. God never imposes his will upon you, however the devil can and does impose his evil at liberty, for those who are willing to go this path, sometimes even Christians who are new believer’s, weak in faith, or back sliden.

For those who don’t believe in God and / or the Devil It’s like a television; depending on which frequency the tuner of your television is calibrated to will depend on which program gets projected. A particular frequency tunes you to one channel and program and when another frequency is chosen a different channel / program / reality is experienced. Like the tuner on a television you can change the dial (choice) and go into different levels of programs. It’s always your choice. Other’s may influence it, but the option to watch or be a part of a particular program is always your choice.

  4. DoUKnowTheLord says:

Dear John Douglas and Mark Olshaker,

I know as lawmen we have a tendency to place our trust into objects and things that can be measured. That is one extrinsic form of knowledge, there is another type of knowledge that does not have the same meaning. And that is the knowledge and love of persons, you and I have courtesy for each other because we recognize that each of us bears inside a divine image; hence we treat each other with love and respect. So therefore, that separates the three of us from these men. All of whom lack the knowledge of Our Lord.

The one thing I do know is that man controlled the minds of weaker followers, that is what he is doing, being controlled by a powerful willful angel. Not to base it all on theology I will merely ask you to watch this on you-tube and let me know if it makes more sense. Archbishop Fulton Sheen: The Devil and The Diabolic. I was raised on this as a Catholic but it has a very powerful message and is exactly what your question is asking. Please take the time to view it and that is one explanation.

The more obvious is that he sustained damage to his frontal cortex from his head injuries, and in combination with the THC, which will increase the amount of Serotonin and after years of use it can no longer produce and receive it. Therefore the brain is numb to its calming effects. And then if you combine that with the brother whom introduced him to the serial murder of innocent women in Vietnam and then murdered his fiance in front of Richard, the combination is lethal. He was always a killer, and in addition to the damage physically the genetic aggression was present SSA, and that’s key. The only thing that would have saved him was Our Lord, whom he turned against. I truly believe that he felt Lucifer was giving him some type of grace when he murdered. He would even try to repay the devil in his murders. He made symbolic and forceful payment to the devil, in one murder he raped and then beat a woman ordering her to revoke the name of God and submit her life to the devil. That in itself is a very deep psychological and spiritual test he did on her faith. The women chose her life and said I love Satan, God has no ill will toward her but if it were my life or the devil and his ego, let it be my life. That is where I draw my strength in these investigations.

  5. DoUKnowTheLord says:

No John the fallen angels merely suggested it through Charles Manson. He remained free to say women are sacred and the life of a human being should never be destroyed as they all have done.

That son of a prostitute Manson is no mystery to me John but the fact that Sharon Tate was pregnant and Catholic and so am I is significant. For example that was a satanic murder done to disgrace The Lord, and the Blessed Mother. I do not think you realize who Charles Manson was, and even still the devil keeps him alive. The devil let this man appear evil when a juror was killed, he never died by the sentence he was given. He even had a wife, now is he in the church of satan? No they all are in hell or on their way, the devil did make him do it but he did it willingly and foolishly because he has lost eternity. They all have but they need to repent or we may all loose this life, Our Blessed Mother spoke to a nun in Japan. This all is Lucifer and in a way it always was, they fell from grace with Our Lord because of his devotion to us. They said God should not make himself a man and after that it seems they are lost and God told the devil he is stuck on earth until the day of judgement. I can see him, can’t you? I think people want to believe in God and eternity, but they really do not. Some do like us that is why we do the job, they do not that is why they make us do this job. And John they can never deceive the Lords servant. Therefore when Gary Ridgeway and I meet it will be at a trial for his life and I will be there I spent much hard work to prove he violated all kinds of ways. Now I need my chance and guess what Mr. Douglas

THE BLESSED LORD, made me do it!

Evil has had its hour, God has day and it is coming, justice through Jesus, John. Justice through Jesus. That’s why he used the pentagram it is like the swastika, a crocked cross and that is the devil. Hatred of the cross of Christ.

I would love to talk to you on the phone about this it may not be safe to insult that old fool on line because he is in danger now. They all are, John I am coming for these men who sit there on death row not dieing. Their time is up when I can become a detective with a badge. Dennis if your listening to I am the one that is going to get you, I just wanted you to know that. Sorry John I hate the murder of innocence and I am finished watching families be devastated by these evil foolish men.
