Pat Robertson

If there was ever a poster boy for the concept of separation of church and state, it is Virginia-based televangelist Pat Robertson. Through his Christian Broadcasting Network program “The 700 Club” as well as speeches and statements to the media, the 83-year-old Robertson has never been shy or anything but self-assured about explaining the true meaning of current events.

And to say the least, these interpretations are interesting.

“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”

Well, that says it, I guess. I know a fair number of feminists, but it’s clear I’ve been naive about their true agenda. I mean, like the witchcraft and the anti-capitalism. And somehow I missed that so many of my feminist friends had been leaving their husbands and turning gay. I didn’t even realize that the lesbians I do know were witches or socialists. I’ve got to get out more.

Part of the problem is that women just don’t understand that they are, and by right ought to be, under the control of their husbands.

“If you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household, and the husband is the head of the wife, and that’s the way it is, period.”

And if your husband tends to stray, well, that’s your fault, ladies. Fortunately, there is a simple solution: “What you do is make a home so wonderful he doesn’t want to wander.” Known to be foolproof.

It turns out the devastating 2010 hurricane in Haiti was a result of the longtime Haitian pact with the Devil and that the Nazi movement was promulgated by Satanists and homosexuals. By the way, “The two things seem to go together.” I guess that was why there were so many pink triangles in the concentration camps.

And speaking of homosexuals, in hosting “Gay Days,” Walt Disney World in Florida is risking – nay, asking for – a visitation of hurricanes, terrorism, “earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor.”

And they won’t be thrill rides; they’ll be the real thing. Should I sell my Disney stock?

Now, it’s easy – at least for me – to simply plaster Reverend Robertson as an irascible and particularly flatulent old gasbag and media buffoon spouting loony ideas. But that is not the point.

The point is that over the decades, Robertson regularly has injected himself into national and international politics and wants to shape the public policy. And if we let these religious views determine what we tolerate and how we go about things in the body politic, we will cease to be the free and open nation to which we have always aspired. You can be pretty well assured where Robertson would have come down on the issue of slavery had he been around in the mid-1800’s. God’s will, no doubt, or else He wouldn’t have created Africans as an inferior race meant to be subjugated by the superior Caucasians.

A religious-based secular society doesn’t work. History has proved that over and over again, usually with a minimum of morality and a maximum of shedding innocent blood. And implementing Robertson’s ideas here in the United States would be about as progressive as instituting Sharia law has ben in modern Muslim societies.

I’m reassured Robertson knows so well what is in God’s mind. I have a few ideas of my own, but they’re pretty much limited to things like not killing or hurting your fellow human, treating others as you would like them to treat you, and being compassionate and charitable. Other than that, I’m just not sure.

Gun lovers are always worried about “the camel’s nose under the tent.” Well, so am I. If we deny rights to women or homosexuals, what comes next? The entire history of amending the Constitution has been about adding rights. The one amendment that curtailed them – prohibition – was a dismal failure.

So you watch out for the feminists and homosexuals and other people who you feel are bringing the nation down, Reverend Pat. I’m going to be looking out for people like you.

It only takes a cursory review of the modern feminist movement to see that it has been anti-male, as it coincided with the submission of the theories of one man, Sigmond Freud. One can hear pontification of subliminal racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. It is hard to miss the correlation between the movements of the 60’s and the familial chaos that is prevalent today. As a student of Nietzsche via Prof Laurance Lampert, the killing of God in society, that is, living as if God were dead has disastrous consequences. We have already seen what Nietzsche knew was coming, the 20th century where Europe tried to destroy itself.

Nietzsche was writing the history of the next 200 years. Lampert interpreted his works in a different way, that the beginning is in the middle and works outward. We have another 100 years left, and it seems that we are heading into the abyss that Europe fell into.

As for a secular society, impossible. There is the public square, which a new dynamic religion which I’ll call, Secular Leftism was been proselytizing through education. social services, government, and with political correctness. I am a member of FIRE, Foundation of Individual Rights in Education where the greatest threats to Freedom of Speech is from the public university, and now with the Justice Department through the preponderance of evidence standard in sexual harassment charges.

It is impossible to have a secular society, but a secular government is possible. Numerous individuals have discovered through 12 step programs that belief in a power greater than ourselves is a spiritual concept, not a religious one. To offer a non-religious prayer to God or any higher power the group conscious desires does not breach the separation of church and state.

I know where Secular Leftism ends….Nien Cheng wrote of her ordeals in, “Life and Death in Shanghai”.

Lucifer, knew this day would come. Look at this man here he is an example of why no one in my generation and the one after are tough to sway.

Remember the time our Lord told Peter he would be handed over to the gentiles and Peter said “This shall not be, we will recognize your divinity but we will not recognize the cross.” Our Lord said “do not try to lead me Satan I lead you.” He called peter that for the same reason he would this man. Remember when our Lord was on the mound and Satan gave him three shortcuts, the first was see the rocks they look like loaves of bread, you haven’t eaten in 40 day you have an ID you have desire for food, sex and power. He said to Our Lord the cross will not win mankind because mankind loves the startling, the marvelous. Anything that will make them say “OHHH”. He said they will forget the marvels in a week then repeat another marvel. The first temptation was permissiveness, in other words do whatever you feel like doing. The second was to be a temptation of the church and we it’s full emergence with those who represent God and convince others of the third temptation. The third temptation was not be concerned with redemption and the transcendent but to only be concerned with the social and political order. Like the fool here and like those evil Westboro Baptists. This was given to us as a warning long ago but no one cared then why would anyone listen now? Least of all to me, they will him but not me. They like the Muslims, and the Manson Family have all been deceived by evil that is old and for now strong.

Alisa, not everyone who claims to be a Christian really is, so they are easily deceived, that is one reason why these type of preacher’s can find people to follow them.

Another reason is because people don’t read their Bible and so they lack knowledge and understanding.

The Bible answers the question in 2 Timothy 3:1 This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful and unholy, 3:3 Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away. 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts. 3:7 Ever learning and never able to come to te the knowledge of the truth 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. — Chapter 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I beg to differ. Homosexuality is not a choice. It is genetically hard-wired.

I personally believe that whatever consenting adults do with each other is none of our business.

Children and adults need to be protected from both heterosexual and homosexual predators.

      • sherry says:

Tom, science has found no evidence in their studies that indicates that homosexual behavior is genetically hired-wired, according to their latest studies. Biblically speaking God would not make someone to beome something he is against without giving them a choice.

        some Scriptures concerning homosexual behavior:

        Genesis chapters 18 & 19:6-11 (Sodom & Gomorrah)
        Leviticus 20:13
        Romans 1:26-27 & v. 32
        2 Peter 2:6-10
        Jude 7

I agree that what consenting adults do in their bedroom, which is where they should keep it, not on the street corner, is their choice, but that doesn’t mean I accept homosexual behavior as being appropriate. And I do have a problem with them trying to force other’s to accept their lifestyle or to demand that a preacher or Justice of the peace marry them when it goes against their belief, and if they refuse they face charges of discrimination, or could lose their job.

I agree that children need to be protected from both heterosexual and homosexual predators, but I don’t agree with them teaching our children in schools that homosexual behavior is an alternative lifestyle.

Alcoholics and drug addicts also believe they become addicts because of some genetically-wired dispostion, but truth is their problem wouldn’t exist if they hadn’t made the choice to use or abuse them in the first place.

And serial killers and rapist also believe that their choice is okay, and that they couldn’t help themselves, because of abuse or other factors, but that doesn’t mean their behavior is acceptable.

      • DoUKnowTheLord says:

There is nothing remotely scientific to suggest a homosexual desire. The suggestion is presumptuous to say the least.

It is all a choice, serial killers know that they are doing wrong. They just do not care.

    • Tom Mininger says:

I invite open minded people to google the ongoing scientific work on homosexuality.

      • sherry says:

I can’t find the article I read recently. I guess fb removed it, but here is another article that says about the same thing.

      • Cornerstone says:

Hey, Bible and scientific evidence aside, if you’d ever been close with a homosexual in the 1970s like I was and seen how hard they tried to deny it within themselves and how much abuse from family and schoolmates they suffered, you ‘d know that no one would have chosen that suffering. I’m happy to say we now have a generation who won’t all be beat up and ostracized due to their sexual preference.

It’s important to remember that not everyone has the same narrow religious views and not everyone will take a thousands-year-old text literally or worship a god that doesn’t support them as a person and, they way they imagine him, isn’t benevolent. There are as many religions as there are people, when you get down the details. Anyway, if you did believe in trying to be a good Christian, the bottom line and best message of that religion is being forgiving and tolerant and nonjudgmental. Don’t get lost in the overly translated words of an old doctrine. Use common sense. Love is never the wrong choice.

  4. Alisa Dekroyn says:

I wonder how do such religious fanatics manage to get their audience. But they still do.
    Just can’t help wondering.
The world still has so much to learn

  5. sherry says:

Never much cared for Pat Robertson’s teachings. And I don’t trust most preacher’s even though I am a Christian, but there are other preacher’s out there whose teachings would be more accurate than Pat Robertson’s.

The best source for the truth is the Bible. Always refer to it to confirm whether what you are being told is the truth or not.

I’m not sure why people believe it is okay to use race or women to justify their approval of homosexual behavior, except that they need some means to justify what the Bible has clearly condemned. (Will provide scriptures to prove it upon request). Neither blacks or women chose what they are.

Homosexual behavior is a choice and it has in the past and will again result in punishment. Just because God delays his judgment, because he is patient and longsuffering, not willing that any should perish, does not mean he has become more accepting of the behavior. If he did he would have to apoligize to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Man is the head, but that doesn’t mean that God made women ignorant or someone to be abused. Woman was created to help man. (helpmeet, Genesis 2:20) Some men think that because they are the head that gives the the authority or right to mistreat women, but the Bible says that man is to love his wife as Christ loved the church, and Jesus would never treat his children (the church) the way some men treat their wives. In other words God values women as equally as he does men, but he assigned them different roles.

The liberation movement in trying to abolish this distinction has created much confusion and discontentment for the younger generations.

Rebellion against God causes all sorts of unacceptable or sinful behavior in both men and women.

  6. Cornerstone says:

“The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”

Well, it certainly sounds like tempting fun, Reverend Pat. If only it were that simple.

“Now, it’s easy – at least for me – to simply plaster Reverend Robertson as an irascible and particularly flatulent old gasbag and media buffoon spouting loony ideas. But that is not the point.”

Oh, no, no. No, it’s definitely to the point, Mr. Olshaker. Throw in “dangerous” and there you have it.

    Amen.
